Brow lift is a surgical procedure that repositions the eyebrows higher by lifting the skin of the forehead. It provides a more feminine appearance. It is usually done at the same time as the frontal bone feminization or foreheadplasty.
Postoperative period after brow lift for feminization
The patient in the postoperative period will notice tightness in the eyebrows especially in the lateral region. It is normal to feel local discomfort and a feeling of tightness at the level of the eyebrows during the postoperative period.
Hematomas will appear on the upper eyelids along with inflammation that will last from 7 to 10 days. As the days pass, the eyebrows go down a bit until they are in their final position that will be a little higher than before the surgery.
Depending on the technique used, the patient will have various degrees of local inflammation and hematomas that will appear at the level of the upper eyelids 24 hours after surgery.
It is important to know that one side will be more inflamed than the other. You will feel heaviness in the upper eyelids when opening your eyes during the first days. The inflammation may last 3 to 7 days.
Returning to work is possible after 3-7 days depending on the technique used. Removing the stitches is after one week.
Treatment after feminization of the eyebrows
After surgery, the patient should have relative rest for 1-2 days, apply local cold compresses intermittently for the first 24 hours and sleep the first night with a slightly elevated head.
The patient will experience local discomforts easily controllable with analgesics. After 4-6 days, we recommend massaging the area of the forehead that the patient can do on his/her own.
